Jim was diagnosed with multiple myeloma eight years ago when he was 72 years old. He had been experiencing sharp pain in his back that prompted him to go to the doctor. After several tests he was diagnosed and began treatment immediately. He has tried several different treatment regimens throughout the past eight years. Prior to being diagnosed, Jim had little knowledge about multiple myeloma, having only heard about it in passing.
Jim lives in a suburb about an hour outside of a major metropolitan area with his wife, who is also dealing with some medical issues and their adult daughter, Joy. They have two other adult children and five grandkids, all of whom live nearby and help with their care. Jim enjoys time with his family more than anything and wants to be able to actively participate in their lives.
