Being diagnosed at a relatively young age has been difficult for Mary. It was overwhelming and hard for her to accept. She wants to do what she can to extend her life as long as is possible—if a treatment is working for her, she is willing to deal with its side effects. Mary is working with her care team to make sure she understands her options and constantly researches new advances in treatment and care for multiple myeloma.
Everything is a blur once you’re told you have myeloma; you are taking in so much information and starting treatment and not really getting to take a moment to just breathe. It is important to take the time to digest the information and ask questions when there is something you don’t understand.”
